Sunlighthouse wins the Austrian environmental award

The VELUX Active House experiment, Sunlighthouse, wins the Austrian National Award for environment & energy technology 2010 in the category "special awards".

VELUX Austria’s Active House Sunlighthouse, which is part of VELUX Modelhome 2020 has won an Austrian environmental award.

The award is presented by the ministries of environment, economy and technology. Two projects were selected for the special prize “Ecolinx” which is named by the internet platform of the new Austrian environmental and energy technology. Sunlighthouse was awarded with one these special prizes.

From the award statement:
"The award was given for the outstanding innovative content, the degree of novelty and market potential and/or for the already achieved market position. VELUX Austria cooperates with the Department of Building and Environment of the Danube University Krems and the Austrian Institute for Healthy and Ecological Building (IBO) to design the single family house, Sunlighthouse. The house was developed on order to embraces the highest architectural and ecological requirements. A model home where actual technology standards are merging with a well-thought-out concept: a CO2-neutral house which has outstanding daylight conditions. It needs no cooling and produces energy."
