The BOLIG+ concept was initiated in connection with the EnergyCamp 2005, where a number of representatives from the construction sector were asked to solve the task: "How can we develop energy efficient houses for the world's growing population"
The overall conclusion from the participants was that there is major energy saving potentials in connection with the new buildings and that we have products, knowledge, skills and opportunities to exploit and promote this potential. It was also considered that the experience of the new housing development could support the development of solutions to the existing housing stock.
On this basis the group developed the BOLIG+ concept, which, in its simplicity should help to break down the above barriers. It should be attractive to live in an energy efficient house with integrated renewable energy as well as the houses should have far more values than standard buildings. Therefore other topics like better indoor climate, visibility of renewable energy solutions and flexibility in the use of the building should be prioritized. The BOLIG+ concept has thereafter been developed further in coordination between the partners and organizations in the construction sector in Denmark.
The BOLIG+ concept has been described in details and it has received financial support from the Realia, EUPD (Danish research program) and the Danish Electricity saving trust. A project competition on a multistory BOLIG+ building has been developed in collaboration with Aalborg Municipality and thye developer A. Engaard A/S. The result of the competition was published in September 2009 and report from the jury is attached below (in Danish). It is the intention that the winning team and the developer will design and build the BOLIG+ project.
