Jacki Davis (moderator) is a leading commen­tator and analyst on European Union affairs. She is an experienced journalist, speaker and moderator of high-level events both in Brus­sels and in EU national capitals, the editor of many publications, a regular broadcaster on television and radio news programmes, and a Senior Adviser to the European Policy Centre think tank. Jacki has been based in Brussels for 17 years, and was previously Communica­tions Director of the European Policy Centre; editor-in-chief of E!Sharp, a magazine on the EU launched in 2001; and launch editor of Eu­ropean Voice, a Brussels-based weekly news­paper on EU affairs owned by The Economist Group, from 1995-2000.

 

Dr. Philomena M. Bluyssen performed her PhD at the Technical University of Denmark on the topic Air Quality under supervision of Prof. Fanger. In 1998 she received her MBA degree at the University of Rotterdam. From 1991 she has worked with TNO mainly on European projects related to health and comfort of people in in­door environments. Some of the projects she coordinated are the European audit project to optimize indoor air quality and energy con­sumption in office buildings, the European project AIRLESS: a project focused on HVAC systems as pollution sources, the European project HOPE (Health Optimization protocol for Energy-Efficient buildings) and the Euro­pean project Healthy AIR. She is member of ASHRAE, ISIAQ and CIB. She has recently pub­lished The Indoor Environment Handbook: How to make buildings healthy and comfortable.

 

President Christian Cardonnel is the founder of CARDONNEL Ingénierie, an advisory engi­neering company specializing in planning and supervision of construction projects. Work in­cludes renovation of residential buildings to sustainable comfort in terms of economy, en­ergy and resources. The sensible integration of solar energy in the building by means of ther­mal collectors, photovoltage and glass open­ings for the bioclimatic component (light - en­ergy - ventilation) is the objective of Enerplan, which is an association of professionals within solar energy in France and of which Christian CARDONNEL has been the president since the middle of 2009.

 

Architect, Partner, David H Cook. Dipl. Arch (Dist.), B.A. (Hons.), born 1966 in Manchester, studied architecture in Manchester and Lon­don. He worked with Koski Solomon Ruthven in London before joining Behnisch Architek­ten in 1993, where he worked on an insurance building in Lübeck before becoming responsi­ble for the Bristol Harbourside Center project, for the Terrence Donnelly Centre in Toronto, Canada, which opened in 2005, and for numer­ous award-winning competitions. In 2006 he became a partner in Behnisch Architekten and has since then been responsible for a concert hall in Ventspils (scheduled for completion in 2011), and numerous other projects. David Cook was also responsible for the preparation of the firm’s joint touring exhibition with Transsolar, “Ecology.Design.Synergy”. He is a RIBA and ARB member and a frequent lecturer at univer­sities, conferences and symposia in all parts of the world.

 

MSc. Ing. Henrik Sørensen is Director for Business Development at Esbensen Consult­ing Engineers, and has for more than 15 years been involved in projects focusing on develop­ment of products and architectural Integrated Energy Design strategies for energy efficient buildings. Henrik has participated in several IEA tasks, member of the winning team for the Carlsberg city plan in Copenhagen, EU projects with new innovative window designs, multi-sensors, solar shading and daylighting systems, control strategies for BIPV and more. His background is M. Sc. in Energy Engineering and an executive MBA (MMT) in Innovation Management.

 

 

Arch. DI Dr. Techn. Renate Hammer MAS is Head of Special Field of Architecture and Building Services at the Department for Building and Environment at Danube University Krems. She has an Academic background as Dipl.-Ing. Arch. from Technical University of Vienna, followed by international studies on philosophy, Urban engineering and Solar Architecture leading to the MAS degree. In 2009 she finalized the Doctor program at the Technical University of Vienna. Renate Hammer has since 1991 worked in the field of architecture with her own company and teach at the Danube University in Scientific methodology, Theory of Solar Architecture, Ethics and Cybernetics. She is member of Bavarian Architectural Association, platform for Architecture and Policy and the Advisory Board for the Austrian report of building culture.
