On July 29 the Active House 'House of the future' received the environmental award “UMWELTSPREIS” from the German city of Regensburg. House of the future received the award for its characteristics as a zero-energy house with an energy consumption that is entirely covered by renewable energy sources.
UMWELTSPREIS is presented every second year to projects, companies and persons who has contributed positively to the environment and CO2 reduction.
Sustainable buildings are important for the development of cities
During the Award presentation the Chief Mayer of Regensburg Hans Schaidinger stated that sustainable buildings such as Haus der Zukunft are important for the development of cities. That is why the city of Regensburg are rewarding companies like General Solar Systems who develop solutions and technologies that reduce the energy demand and consumption of buildings.
