Active House Alliance welcomes Elisabeth Hoffmann as new President to drive work towards healthier, sustainable and affordable buildings
Brussels. 8 September 2025. The Active House Alliance has elected Elisabeth Hoffmann, Head of EU Affairs at VELUX, as its new President, effective immediately. She succeeds Yves Lambert and will steer the Alliance’s mission to advance healthier, more sustainable and affordable buildings and housing across Europe and beyond.

With more than 15 years working in sustainability and public affairs, Elisabeth brings deep experience in shaping building policy and promoting energy-efficient, occupant-focused design. At VELUX, she leads EU advocacy on buildings, housing and sustainability legislation. Within the Alliance, she already chairs the Active House Advocacy Committee, a member-driven group created to strengthen the Alliance’s input to EU regulatory and policy debates. Her appointment ensures continuity in advancing human-centered, environmentally responsible building design.
“People need to have access to buildings that are healthy to live, work and learn in, affordable to heat and cool, and sustainable in the long run. As President, my focus is to bring the sector together around practical solutions that deliver comfort, efficiency and environmental performance in buildings.”
Elisabeth Hoffmann, Active House President
Under Elisabeth’s presidency, the Alliance will focus on three priorities:
- Advancing healthy, sustainable and affordable buildings: Promoting building solutions that combine indoor comfort, cost-conscious delivery and verifiable environmental benefits.
- Shaping the Active House 2030 Agenda: Embedding the core Active House principles ‘Comfort, Energy, Environment‘ into future building practices and guidance used by industry and public authorities.
- Making the Active House Radar fit for the future: Modernizing our assessment and certification tool to reflect today’s sustainability and housing challenges and to simplify use for architects, developers and housing providers.
The Alliance thanks outgoing President Yves Lambert (Public Affairs Manager at Renson) for his leadership over the past year. Under his tenure, the association strengthened its global impact by establishing the Advocacy Committee and by delivering the highly successful 2024 Global Active House Awards.
