2022 Symposium

2022 Symposium

How can we renovate in a circular and affordable manner with health, comfort and the resident in mind?

This question is the theme of the international Active House Symposium, to be held at De Doelen, Rotterdam on Wednesday 13 April 2022.

Municipalities and corporations face a wide variety of issues. Housing in the Netherlands must phase out the use of natural gas, meet the Nearly zero-energy building standard and take into consideration the National Climate Agreement. It is regrettable that all these measures only focus on the energy aspect. Resident well-being is almost being neglected. It doesn’t have to be that way!

Where to begin?

How should a municipality, corporation or building management approach a thorough circular renovation project? Where to begin? The international Active House Symposium has the answer. At De Doelen on Wednesday 13 April 2022, you can see how quality can be measured. This interactive day consists of inspiring speakers, best practice and various sub-sessions.

Topics and speakers

A few topics this day are: comfort versus health, urban mining, housing in Rotterdam. The Active House Renovation Brochure will be presented and the Active House Specifications will be explained. Speakers are amongst others: Corinne Mandin, Wouter van Marken Lichtenbelt, Günther Gantioler, Song Yehao and Klara Bukolska.

Rotterdam

If you love architecture, you will love Rotterdam. When you arrive by train in Rotterdam Central Station (an iconic landmark), you’re at walking distance from the symposium venue De Doelen where The Active House Symposium is held.

In the heart of Rotterdam historic buildings and characteristic post-war reconstruction architecture clash cheerfully with the hypermodern skyscrapers built in more recent decades.

Visit

There were enough reasons to visit the International Active House Symposium. When visiting Holland we got a great tip for you. Combine your visit to the symposium with a visit to The Floriade Expo 2022 in Almere. This will start on Thursday 14 April – a day after our symposium. The Floriade is packed with innovations for sustainable cities.
